Audio: T-bird plays the blues for summerim students in Vietnam

Dr. Thi on the sax with Curtis King (Photo by Nick Ross)Curtis “King” Kovach ’91, front man for the Curtis King Band, entertained Thunderbird summerim students last month in Vietnam. King, who is originally from Cleveland, Ohio, has played guitar since he was 4. His band plays at festivals and other events throughout Asia. The song below, “Take My Hand,” is a Curtis King original that incorporates the Chinese zither. Alumni Movers and Shakers

AssistamericaSteven L. Novkov, ’69, has been appointed Chief Representative in Asia for Assist America. Novkov will be based in Thailand and will have responsibility for business in the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and China, in addition to a focus on regional expansion of strategic partnerships. Novkov comes from a lengthy, distinguished career with CIGNA International, where he managed life and non-life businesses at a senior level. He is also a recipient of the Jonas Meyer Award, which is Thunderbird’s most prestigious alumni recognition.

David Barry, ’94, has been named to the new position of Channel & Strategic Accounts Manager for CartoPac Field Solutions. The addition of Barry will help CartoPac enhance customer service to its expanding base of resellers, enabling them to sell and support the company’s field data collection solutions. Barry has helped Global 1000 companies implement and use technology solutions to solve business problems, increase revenue and improve efficiency and decision-making.

Rebekkah Carney, ’95, has been named Vice President, MedTech Prime Market Research for Double Helix US. Carney brings 17 years of market research experience in medical devices. She has spent the last 10 years supporting the global market research needs of manufacturers for diagnostics, implants, surgical tools, disposables, capital equipment and software/hardware. Prior to joining Double Helix Development, Carney worked with GfK Healthcare, Health Products Research and Alcon Laboratories.

Jeff Dicosola, ’98, has moved into a new role as Business Development Manager for specialty insurance solutions in the equipment finance industry for Great American Insurance Group.  Dicosola will focus on creating profitable growth by fostering relationships with existing clients and developing new business opportunities. Dicosola has worked in product management for Great American Insurance Group since 2004. He has also worked for RVI America Insurance Company, US Bank and Saturn.

Jeffrey Wartgow, ’00, has been named Vice President of Channels and Alliances for TOA Technologies. Wartgow will be responsible for growing TOA’s network of partnerships with leading software providers, systems integrators and other companies involved in customer relationships and mobile workforce management. Prior to joining TOA Technologies, Wartgow spent more than two years developing FTI Consulting’s first formal partner program and worked with Dell Inc. for seven years managing strategic alliances for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
