Protecting know-how and intellectual property is a challenge in any market, but especially in hyper-dynamic markets such as China. This is even truer for companies in high-tech services who rely on knowledge to compete. Thunderbird Professors Mary Teagarden and Andreas Schotter, with the help of Joab Meyer ’07 and more than 40 other alumni, investigated what companies do to win this intensely dynamic “war” to impede knowledge asset leaks and assure long-term performance. Teagarden will present the research 10 a.m. MST on Dec. 8, 2010, in a free alumni webinar.
To “win” companies must go beyond patenting and litigation and develop a set of dynamic “know-how” organizational capabilities for assuring long-term performance. This session will discuss findings that include an array of offensive and defensive know-how protection options—corporate social responsibility practice, corporate culture development, and talent management among these.
The webinar will conclude with suggestions for building hybrid protection options into the management of know-how in China and, by extension, operations around the world. Click here to attend webinar
