More ideas from Macau

I asked the Thunderbird Global Council in Macau to think of “big ideas” for Thunderbird. Here are some of them:
MacauTGC16

  • Bring back the old Thunderbird MIM (perhaps MGM or Master of Global Management) by combining the current Master of Arts and Master of Science, and with a clear bridge with the MBA
  • Require of all students a meaningful, hands-on experience in an organization in an emerging economy (sounds like the Thunderbird Emerging Market Laboratory under construction now by the faculty)
  • Add a fourth module abroad for the MBA in India
  • Establish office in New York to support programs for working professionals (EMBA, certificate programs, etc.)
  • Create programs specifically targeting medium sized and family-owned enterprises, currently struggling to become more global
  • Create a subscription system, initially for alumni and eventually open to others, for working professionals to have access to lectures, webcasts and other content, and stay up to speed on the latest thinking in global business issuesMacauTGC15
  • Create flexible open enrollment programs that allow working professionals to pick and choose and receive their learning when they need it, how they want it (e.g. through technology).
  • Offer executive programs in languages other than English
  • Consider flexible faculty model to expand executive capabilities around the world
