By Christen Pechman ’10, Traditional Full-time MBA Program
PRAGUE — I have just finished my first year of Thunderbird’s traditional MBA program and ended my second trimester on a high note with six weeks in Prague, Czech Republic. I start this blog as I embark on a two-week Summerim program on Entrepreneurship in Developing Economies, which takes me through Budapest, Hungary and Ljubljana, Slovenia. (A Summerim is a three-credit, two-week course at the beginning of the summer, and most of them take place outside the United States).
By way of introduction, I am an American citizen but spent the majority of my life living in the Dominican Republic and consider that to be my home. Prior to coming to Thunderbird, I was the COO of the World Trade Center Wisconsin and also own a Pub in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where I used to live. Post MBA I plan to work with SME’s, helping them penetrate and expand operations within emerging markets.
I am pleased to be a part of this new blog series for the Thunderbird Knowledge Network, as firsthand student accounts are a great way to get a feel for a program. When I was determining which B-schools to apply to, I found student blogs were instrumental in helping me make my decision and hope that this blog can do the same for future T-Birds. This is my first attempt at a blog so, if you have any suggestions or comments on what you want to know about etc., please let me know.

Nice to meet you Christen. The Dominican Republic is such a beautiful place, I went there on vacation last year. Hope to go back soon.
