Winterim 2010, Day 1: Walker Center namesake still down to earth

“You’re going to get a great education here at Thunderbird,” Scott Walker said today, while addressing 21 students in complete awe. “I got a great education here.” Walker, a hero of T-birds around the globe, talked about his life lessons that got him where he is in the most honest and down-to-earth manner.

The man seemed like he could talk to anyone about anything all day. Although the depth and diversity of his knowledge is astounding (and I hope this has to do with the great education he got here), my question is how — after all that success — can anyone be that down to earth?

Winterim 2010, Day 1: Know your partner

In this first day of class, we heard from Roland Schuman and Scott Walker. Even though their careers have taken these entrepreneurs into extremely different fields, they both said many of the same things. First was about choosing your business partner wisely. Both emphatically stated the importance of knowing your business partner and making sure you know their history. Since you will be working side-by-side with this person, you must also make sure you both have the same end goals.
